OnInOff is a technology developed by Onionlab, a studio with over twenty years of experience in designing immersive installations and interactive experiences that merge art, design, and technology. The platform was born from the need for an in-house tool capable of integrating light, sound, and visuals into a single, stable, and scalable system. Conceived to be intuitive and accessible, it can be used without technical expertise, offering brands, institutions, and artists a creative framework that seamlessly combines artistic freedom with technological control.

Patterns

The system interprets simple physical actions such as position, distance, approach or arm gestures and translates them into evolving geometric compositions that respond instantly to user interaction.

Through OnInOff, different behavioral modes are activated depending on how the body engages with the space. Basic presence triggers the appearance of geometric elements such as lines, rectangles or grids that expand, follow or surround the user.

Changes in posture or gesture modify scale, orientation and density, while proximity introduces rotation and orbital motion, transforming static patterns into living systems.

Each pattern behaves as a modular logic rather than a fixed animation. OnInOff manages these behaviors in real time, allowing the same visual language to produce different outcomes depending on movement, rhythm and spatial interaction.

This approach enables designers to build flexible interactive experiences where visuals are not pre-rendered sequences, but responsive systems driven by human input.

Patterns demonstrates how OnInOff can be used to create abstract, minimal and scalable interactive installations, suitable for immersive spaces, exhibitions or architectural environments where the body becomes the interface and motion becomes the generative force behind the visual experience.
