OnInOff is a technology developed by Onionlab, a studio with over twenty years of experience in designing immersive installations and interactive experiences that merge art, design, and technology. The platform was born from the need for an in-house tool capable of integrating light, sound, and visuals into a single, stable, and scalable system. Conceived to be intuitive and accessible, it can be used without technical expertise, offering brands, institutions, and artists a creative framework that seamlessly combines artistic freedom with technological control.

OnInOff was used to transform a transitional hotel corridor at the W Hotel Barcelona into an interactive and immersive environment where visuals respond in real time to visitor movement.

The system enabled a seamless connection between body, space and digital content, turning the simple act of walking into an expressive and sensorial experience.

The visual language of the installation was inspired by the surrounding Mediterranean Sea. Through soft gradients, fluid textures and subtle distortions. OnInOff interpreted presence, speed and direction to modulate the visuals, allowing the environment to react naturally to each individual.

By relying on real-time tracking and generative behavior, OnInOff transformed the corridor into a living system rather than a fixed sequence. Each passage created a slightly different response, enhancing immersion while preserving a calm and elegant aesthetic aligned with the hotel’s architecture.

The result is an interactive passage that blurs the line between art, technology and architecture, showing how subtle interaction can turn transitional spaces into meaningful experiential moments without interrupting the flow of movement.
